All the structures selected by our association offer a multicultural atmosphere and many didactic programmes. Many facultative activities are run to show the Japanese culture in all its views.

 

The classes are divided in four different levels, individual or in groups, and may have a different duration according to one’s needs.

• Summer classes of 3 /4 weeks
• Six-monthly or annual classes

 

WHERE TO STAY?

According to the period of staying, it is possible to choose among the numerous solutions offered by this fantastic city, choosing the best quality / price relation.

FOR SHORT STAYS…

Solutions thought for go-ahead young people who want to get the linguistic experience together with a vivid cultural exchange.  

DORM: in this kind of lodging all the spaces are in common, the chamber is for more people, the kitchen/living room area and the toilets are in common. 

SHARED CHAMBER: lodging shared with one or two other people; it offers more spaces then a dorm and is very cheap. 

GUEST HOUSE: differently from the dorm and the shared chamber, the common spaces are only the kitchen/living room area and the toilets, even if the bathroom may be private in certain occasions, while the chamber (which can be closed with a key) is single. The services supplied by the Guest House are different according to the lodgings; sometimes it is necessary to participate to the cleaning up of the common spaces, as an accord among flatmates. 

FOR LONG STAYS…

For all those who choose to spend a longer linguistic stay in order to better enjoy the Japanese life, we recommend 

GUEST HOUSE: for the lovers of the interaction among different cultures, for the ones who prefer the group life and don’t need too big spaces. Private chamber with common rooms.  

MONTHLY MANSION: lodging right for those who want to keep their own independence. The flats, in luxury option, too, are furnished and equipped with all the necessary.

The cost usually varies according to the location and the standard, but it’s the most advised choose to spend there long period.

Tokyo Riders: the photo exhibition presented by Asian Studies Group

Asian Studies Group is pleased to introduce the first exhibition that will take place at the ASG's new cultural lab in Milan city centre.

From 23/01/2009 to 14/03/2009

The photo exhibition titled "Tokyo Riders, living in megalopolis - the perception of a new aesthetic" will include 20 original releases of Laura Liverani professional photographer has joined several artistic experieces in Eastern Asia, in particular in China, Hong Kong, and Japan.

The concept of the show is strictly related to the Association's project: the promotion and introduction of contemporary social scene on eastern asia countries, focusing the attention on those daily aspects that entirely realize a new and concrete aesthetic dimension.

That seems more true and interesting if we consider the cultural and aesthetic image of Japan as commonly is thought of from an international point of view. We're used to seeing picture of traditional Japan, or to representing japanese sense of beauty as geisha or misterious women while they're deep in a tea cerimony or ikebana.

In a different way, we'd want to take Tokyo as symbol of the cultural and social change still in progress in Japan and as clear revenge of the aestehetic need to evolve in a more concrete dimension.

The comprehension of real contemporary life is essential to partecipate in a more conscious way to the social and cultural dimension of the biggest megalopolis in the world.

Special Interview with Banana Yoshimoto

I met Banana on the occasion of the last conference promoted by Milanesiana 2007, a list of summer cultural events in Milan. The topic of the day was "Women and Power" and about it Yoshimoto was invited to explain her books character. But on my case I asked her informations about the typical manga atmosphere that readers can frequently perceive in her works. You can read here the incipit of my interview. Banana Yoshimoto a Milano: i miei libri? sono le "registrazioni" dei sentimenti umani

MILANO: L'occasione per conoscere Banana Yoshimoto è data dalla chiusura della rassegna culturale della Milanesiana 2007, tenutasi sabato 7 luglio nella Sala Dino Buzzati della Fondazione del Corriere della Sera a Milano. La scrittrice giapponese è ospite d'onore nella tavola rotonda intitolata "Donne e potere", un tema per cui, nell'invito rivolto alla Yoshimoto, si è voluto certamente tracciare un sottile riferimento ai personaggi femminili dei suoi romanzi, così carichi di spessore, pieni di sentimento e d' emozione, pilastro portanti di una narrativa, in cui sono proprio le donne a rinascere vittoriose dalle sconfitte di tutti i giorni, dai lutti e dai dolori, nella loro quotidiana naturalezza e apparente semplicità.

Ciò che capiamo da subito, rifacendosi al tema dell'incontro, è che Banana non è di certo una donna di potere, come invece verrebbe naturale immaginare per una personalità letteraria che ha venduto milioni e milioni di libri in Giappone e all'estero, elogiata dalla critica italiana e soprattutto amata da uno sconfinato pubblico giovanile. Invece non avvertiamo nessun fascino da femme fatale, nessun esibizionismo da grande intellettuale, ma la pacata conversazione di una donna di mezza età, con figlio a seguito, animata, nella sua curiosità creativa, dalla volontà di comunicare attraverso i suoi libri le emozioni di tutti i giorni, la semplicità e nello stesso tempo l'astrusità delle relazioni umane.

P.C.: Grazie di essere ritornata in Italia, so che è sempre felice di rivedere i suoi lettori italiani, molto diversi da quelli giapponesi per curiosità e trasporto dalle storie che narrano i suoi libri.

B.Y.: Sono sempre felice di far ritorno qui anche se spesso non so rispondere a tutto quello che mi chiedono...

P.C.: Sarò breve perché so che non mi è permesso trattenerla a lungo. Facendo riferimento alla sua produzione, saprà quanto l'atmosfera da manga che pervade i suoi romanzi arriva a catturare la sensibilità di moltissimi giovani lettori e affascini per la sua leggerezza anche i meno giovani.

B.Y.: Certo, ultimamente da quando ho avuto mio figlio, mi sono avvicinata moltissimo alla lettura dei manga e non posso che trarre spunto da questo immenso panorama artistico che per molti aspetti forma il background culturale e comunicativo di noi giapponesi.

It could sound as an usual event about the popular and be in fashion view of manga and animation production by Japan. We can list several Manga Awards that from Japan had become very populars with teenagers and manga's fans over the world. Infact, this time, about the last Manga award news that're bouncing today on the japanese press ,unlike the common competitions, is promoted by the Foreign Affair Minister, Taro Aso, the most popular manga reader on the japanese political view. For the first time foreigners too will be able to take part in the competition and try to win the award. For the winner, It'll rapresent a real opportunity to be introduced in the japanese manga's market.

日本語を勉強することを決めた時は日本の漫画とアニメに興味がいっぱいあったけどイタリアには漫画の事はあのごろより今のほうが人気を博したと思う。大学で日本について色々研究していた後で僕の関心も変わって今日本の社会とか日本の経済に興味があるものから最近出た漫画全然分からないんだけど。
然し外務省が開発した漫画のコンペチションは僕によって外国にもよく漫画の内容とか特別な意味を説明するために絶対に良い経験だと思います。
